JUST WISHFUL THINKING?
I set my VCR to record "24" forgetting that the SOTU would preempt.
The start of the recording coincided exactly with the Democratic response to the address. Is it just wishful thinking or did they put forward a strong calm, appealing message to America?
Chris Mathews didn't like it, so there's a positive.
Of course, as Peggy Noonan (I'd been imagining someone else. She's suprisingly attractive for A 50-plus woman - and a husky, sexy voice) at MSNBC said, Nancy Pelosi did look surprised throughout her address. Pelosi also stopped herself saying the mission is "not acomplished" and instead said "not complete."
She and Tom Daschle put forward a fair and, again, calm, rebuttal to the address. Matthews et al tried to tear it apart on minutiae - for example that the California (read 'liberal") Pelosi delivered the anti-this war stance and heartland Daschle said nothing about the war and hit on domestic issues.
I'll post again once I find a transcript.
Am I wrong?
