DOLLARS DON'T EQUAL SENSE
Dean's people (always phrased as Dean himself) spent more than $30 million already. His chances, according to the polls in today's seven states are atrocious. Not good. It would be interesting to see poll numbers before the national media starting paying attention and polling. But that is not to be.
It will be very tough for him to hang in there emotionally if he doesn't do well today. Did I mention, I'm voting for him.
At some point bad press equals bad results. Still, a lot of it is the personality of the man himself. That personality trumps policy and ideas is American presidential poltics personified.
Kerry may break that mold - but I don't believe he will. If he wins it will be an anti-Bush vote.
Meanwhile, Bush's campaign has spent $33 million. Not too many voices out there calling his campaign reckless, now are there?
Now, it is true that the eventual Democratic nominee will have a few truckloads of cash coming his way. That will even out the money, but the interest of the country really isn't at stake here is it?
One commentator over at Pandagon ia fed up with the presidential election process in general (which is where I'm at). Dstein starts: It's auction season, and its terrible. How much will each lie cost?
It's interesting to try and figure out what a president is good for. For me I like someone with a good vision of America - one that respects every single law-abiding American.
We haven't got that now.
