Brooks Bashing

Anyone can play - it's easy because the man cannot write anything but spin. I don't think he believes much of anything except that Republicans are right all the time.

Brooks, Rall, Raines and Blair - they'll be starting a law firm soon. The other thing they will soon have in common is that op-ed columnist David Brooks, op-ed cartoonist Ted Rall and pulp fiction writer Jayson Blair will all have been fired from the NYTimes.

DailyHowler (as have others) laugh at and rip David Brooks latest opus - an extended version of a Citizen's United (soccer team) ad whose script ran:
CITIZENS UNITED AD:

(Insinuative voice, with plummy accent):

Massachusetts senator John Kerry.

Hair styled by Christophe's: 75 dollars.

Designer shirts? 250 dollars.

42-foot luxury yacht: One million dollars.

Four lavish mansions and beautiful estate? Over 30 million dollars.

Another rich liberal elitist from Massachusetts who claims he's a "man of the people."

[Porcine grunting] Priceless.

Can't Visa Mastercard sue?

I first heard about the ad on CNN's Capital Gang - where the entire panel loved it. They also said it would fade pretty quickly if no one talked about them. Cue Brooks (the columnist who thinks Mitch Albom is more dangeous than religious fundamentalism and also said he had heard the scoop straight from administration officials regarding Plame / Wilson and they had told him all the Democrats were wrong on that so it had to be true.)

This is of course just generic compared to the rank government cheese professionalism of the RNC saying North Korea's president wants Bush to win and all kinds of other fun stuff. (I can't find the RNC link after searching. It's there I'm sure, but not easily accessible). Update 12:23 - I found the link here, via Columbia Journalism Review's Campaign Desk.org.
