Kosovo Comes Back
With news of a renewed unrest and violence in Kosovo that killed seven and injured 300, it will be an impossible urge to resist for Republicans to point to Kosovo and say, see Clinton's solutions for the area aren't working.
And they may have a slight point. The war ended there in 1999. It's hard to tell how many thousands more would have died without intervention. But it is clear many would have died.
But let's see how many attack Clinton, rather than discuss, what is a valid discussion point. It is not a valid attack point for the very reason mentioned above. it's not as if unrest bubbled up months after the end of the war. It's been five years. There's a Bill Clinton Boulevard in Kosovo (promise).
Republicans may even go further and say that this renewed violence proves that the United Nations and NATO can't do anything right. This call will be less stringent among the smarter Republicans. But it will be an element out there.
It would be nice if wars were easy and if problems were solved like they are in sitcoms. But they are not.
I fault no one for what is going on in Iraq now. Where the fault lies is how we got ourselves into such a predicament. that's where the tragicomedy lies.
