I Agree, It was His Best Effort
.. and that's what makes me so sad about the president's responses that's he's said 1,000 times before. Because he's keeping to his talking points he's applauded for being consistent and meaning what he says because he says what he .. zzzzzzz.
Remember, this is the platitude presidency.
Just had this little thought, as well ... The Press is getting railed, incorrectly, for asking tough questions without specifics: There are so many better questions to ask, why these ones?
Here's the answer. These "big picture" questions come because these press conferences are designed to paint a "big picture" of the administration's handling of the war.
UPDATE 18:06 And this Will Saletan at Slate absolutely nails everything that troubles me about Bush (although he doesn't address falling off the wagon). Really. You may not be convinced, but you'll learn something.
