We Should Stay the Olympic Course
I think we should leave Iraq (but we're fucked if we do that, as well). But I don't think we should abandon the Olympics.
That's kind of twisted. Greece is ripe for an attack. It's small enough where a couple of plane attacks can shut down the country. Bombs. People will leave en masse at the first one that inflicts any major damage.
Of course, I fear a Munich occurence where 11 Israeli athletes were killed by Fatah aka Black September.
As bombs continue to be found around Athens, I believe someone is truly trying to send a signal that worse is yet to come. Either that or they are sending a signal that this is the best they can do. After all we did not get any public signal that 9-11 was going to happen.
Or there's this paragraph from this AP story:
The group Revolutionary Struggle claimed responsibility for the three blasts earlier this month in a declaration that denounced the stringent security measures for the Aug. 13-29 games.
In times of world war it is not unheard of to just call off the games. But billions of $$$ were not involved at that time.
Of course, there's irony as usual. Last time we boycotted the Olympics was because of the USSR's attacks in Afghanistan.
